🟠 SAPL WEEK 4 RESULTS: SOUTHERN CONFERENCE

If the Northern Conference is becoming the Pool of Death, the Southern Conference is starting to look like the Pool of "Nobody Tell Us Who Is Actually Winning This Thing." 😂 Week 4 delivered a near demolition job, a surprisingly close battle, and arguably the biggest upset of the night.

And there are some serious questions starting to emerge. Is U-Pro simply cruising? Are we underestimating Banter Bandits? And who exactly is Rudolph? 👀

Let's get into it.

👑 WRC 4 vs U-PRO INVITATIONAL U-Pro Invitational cruising towards another huge win With just one game still to play and the score already sitting at 0–12, U-Pro Invitational are doing what U-Pro Invitational seem to do best: Cruise. There doesn't seem to be much panic in this team. They just keep collecting points and moving on to the next victim. 😂

But we have to give credit where it's due. 👩 Anria & Marlize refuse to make it easy, they put up a massive fight against an incredible Marna & Marlie. On paper, this was always going to be a mammoth task, but WRC4's Ladies pairing made them work for it. They may not have got the result, but this is exactly the kind of performance that tells you WRC4 aren't simply turning up to make up the numbers.

👨 GRANT & STEFAN: WHO ARE THESE GUYS? We need to talk about the U-Pro Intermediate pairing. Where did these two come from? 😂

Because they seem to have suddenly found another gear and are busy building their own little donut shop. 🍩 Across all three sets, they have lost just one game.

One.

That's basically not a padel match. That's a hostile takeover. Grant & Stefan are officially on donut-watch. And if they keep playing like this, we're going to have to start asking whether U-Pro has quietly been hiding another monster pairing from us.

🔥 PROACTIVE WINGATE vs BANTER BANDITS This was WAY closer than we expected We honestly didn't think this one would be this close. Which leaves us with an uncomfortable question:

Are we overestimating Proactive Wingate... or underestimating Banter Bandits? 👀

Banter came to play. And they pushed Wingate all the way to a 9–7 finish. That's a result worth paying attention to. Because we've been talking about Proactive as one of the serious contenders, but Banter Bandits have now shown that they can hang with them.

And then there are Arno & Rudolph. 🍩 TWO MORE DONUTS

Yes. Two more.!

That takes the pair to 6 donuts in 4 weeks. 🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩 Can anyone actually compete with these two? We know what Arno brings to the court.

But seriously... Where did Rudolph come from?

We had a look at his Playtomic profile picture and we're now wondering whether padel was actually his second choice after paintball. 😂 Because playing against Rudolph looks like it might be less painful with actual paintballs.

👨 Men's Open: THE UPSET WE DIDN'T SEE COMING This may have been the game of the night at Wingate. Egmondt Snr & Wynand came into this one undefeated. And then they met Luca & Eddie...

We warned you last week: Luca & Eddie are no joke.

Well...

They weren't joking. Luca & Eddie took down the seasoned pairing in straight sets, handing Egmondt Snr & Wynand their first loss of the season. That's a massive result.

And suddenly the Banter Bandits Open pairing has gone from "interesting" to: "Wait... these guys might actually be a problem." 👀

👶 Michael & Juandre: ONE VERY IMPORTANT SET Wingate needed every point they could get, and Michael & Juandre delivered a crucial set against Chad & Danile. They were the underdogs. They didn't win the match. But they won the set that mattered.

And that single set helped push Proactive Wingate over the line for the 9–7 victory. Once again, SAPL proves that you don't have to win your match to win the night. Sometimes you just need to steal one set at exactly the right moment.

🚜 TAYFIN vs PADEL PARQ KIMIAD A THE BIGGEST UPSET OF THE NIGHT

We knew this one could be interesting. But we didn't see this coming.

🚨 ALI & YUSHA HAVE ARRIVED

Ali & Yusha pulled off a massive upset against Shaun Nel & Sean Collins, taking the match 2–1. And this is where the ratings need to be taken with a little pinch of salt.

Because, let's be honest: There isn't an under-3-rated pair in Pretoria that we would have backed to beat Shaun & Sean. But Ali & Yusha didn't read the ratings. They just went out and won. That's why we play the matches. 😂

Huge result. Huge upset. And potentially the result that everyone remembers when we look back at the Southern Conference.

👨 Stuart & Mark finally get some traction Meanwhile, Stuart & Mark made hard work of their match against Cobus & Frans, but eventually came away with the win. It wasn't exactly smooth sailing.

More... old Ford with a questionable starter motor. 😂🚜

But perhaps this is exactly what the Herbst brothers needed. A win. A bit of confidence. A few kilometres on the engine. Maybe that old Ford is finally getting into gear. 🔧

⛽ SOUTHERN CONFERENCE FUEL GAUGE What a week.

U-Pro Invitational are cruising. Proactive Wingate survived a much tougher battle than expected. Banter Bandits have officially entered the conversation. Arno & Rudolph are building a six-donut Intermediate bakery. And Ali & Yusha just produced one of the biggest upsets we've seen all season.

The Southern Conference is no longer just about who is winning. It's becoming about who is starting to peak at exactly the right time.

And with playoffs getting closer...
