Week 5 is here, and if you thought the conferences were starting to separate themselves... Think again. 😂 There are some seriously tasty matchups this week, with a few pairings starting to build reputations, some teams desperate to stop the bleeding, and a couple of matches that could have us looking very clever next week... Or deleting this article. 😂 Let's see what we've got. 🟢 EASTERN CONFERENCE 🎾 WRC 3 vs TENROUNDS Prediction: Tenrounds 15–1 On paper, Tenrounds should have too much firepower here, particularly after their big Week 4 result. Gideon & Francois will be looking to keep the Beginner momentum going, while Anrich & Dean will have their hands full in Intermediate. But the match we're watching closely is the Ladies. Charice & Yolandi vs Elsa & Marijke. We saw how competitive the Ladies battle was last week, and with both sides knowing each other a little better now, this could be another proper scrap. Tenrounds should still have enough across the four categories to take this one comfortably. 15–1 Tenrounds. And if the donuts start flowing again, we're going to have to start asking whether Texan Petroleum is secretly sponsoring the bakery as well. ⛽🍩 ________________________________________ 🍩 THRASHERS vs MK PADEL Prediction: Thrashers 13–3 THE ONE WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR. Thrashers vs MK. This is where things get serious. MK have been absolutely flying, but after Thrashers' 16–0 demolition of WRC3, we're struggling to see them dropping too many categories here. And then there is the big one: Carmen & Marie-Louise vs Bianca & Wendy. Can MK finally stop the Thrashers Ladies machine? Then you've got Kevin & Kyle in Intermediate, Andreas & Dino in Open and the unbeaten Dylan & Matthew in Beginner. That's a lot of problems to solve in one evening. We're backing Thrashers. 13–3. If they produce another seven-donut night against MK, Texan may as well just put the prize money directly into the Thrashers account. 😂💰 ________________________________________ ⚔️ U-PRO ATTERBURY vs PADEL PARQ KIMIAD B Prediction: U-Pro 9–7 This one could be a proper nail-biter. There are some very evenly matched pairings here, and unlike a few of the other Eastern fixtures, we don't see one team simply steamrolling the other. Justin & Oratile will have their hands full against Ryan & Kean in Open, while Kyle & Cuan take on Tobias & Andrew Swanepoel in Intermediate. And then there's the Ladies, where Lee & Shanagh face Lee Collins & Hillary. This could come down to exactly what we've been talking about all season: Who can steal that extra set? We're going U-Pro, but only just. 9–7 U-Pro Atterbury. Expect the calculators to come out afterwards. 🧮😂 🔵 NORTHERN CONFERENCE 🏔️ SKYe vs RALLY REBELS Prediction: Rally Rebels 10–6 This is another one where there isn't much between the teams. Marno & André vs Werner & Ickard in Open should be a serious battle, while Louis & Nantus take on Johann & Jacobus in Intermediate. But we're looking at the Ladies. Anzelle & Abigail vs Sone & Charelle. Sone & Charelle have already shown they can cause problems, and we think the Rally Rebels Ladies pairing gives them just enough of an edge to swing this fixture. SKYe are at home, so we're not completely writing them off. But we're backing Rally. 10–6. Texan fuel may get SKYe to the venue... but Rally are taking the points home. ⛽😂 ________________________________________ 🟡 KOP RIETONDALE 1 vs WRC 2 Prediction: KOP1 12–4 Again... No easy games this week. KOP1 have the stronger-looking Ladies matchup on paper, with Leticia & Bridgette taking on Hilmari & Letitia. But hold on. Remember who is on the other side? Letitia & Hilmari have still not dropped a set all season. So perhaps we shouldn't get too comfortable with that prediction. 👀 The Men's Open is also interesting, with Corne & Lorenzo taking on Joachim & Sean Trollip. After Zestian & Conré got one over him last week, Sean will probably be arriving with something to prove. We're still backing KOP1 across the fixture. 12–4 KOP1. ________________________________________ 🐺 PADEL PATROL vs WRC 1 Prediction: 8–8 DRAW Can Padel Patrol do it again? After we called their Week 4 upset, we're going to put ourselves right back in the firing line. 😂 The big question is whether Malcolm & Devon can step up again in Beginner. They don't need to win everything. They just need to find that one crucial set that changes the scoreboard. The Fischer brothers are another story. Adrien & Cameron have been absolutely flying and we'll back them to continue their winning streak. Zestian & Conré are also coming off a big win over Sean Trollip. But then... 👩 Freda & Liezel. Here comes the problem. The Donut Factory is back. 🍩 Freda & Liezel have been absolutely ruthless, and with Gemma & Jessica standing on the other side of the net, we're not sure anyone is ready to stop the production line. So how do we get to a draw? Patrol needs their men to do the heavy lifting. We're calling it: 8–8. And if Malcolm & Devon manage to steal another crucial set, we're claiming that prediction as genius. If they don't... We were never here. 😂 🟠 SOUTHERN CONFERENCE 🔥 PROACTIVE WINGATE vs U-PRO INVITATIONAL MATCH OF THE WEEK Prediction: U-Pro 10–6 This is the one. The match. Proactive vs U-Pro Invitational. There are big names everywhere you look. The Ladies pairing of Marna & Marlie will be a serious challenge for Marie & Daleen, while Men's Open gives us Egmondt Snr & Wynand against Jacques & Egmond. Yes, it is father and son time, like a good old Cat Stevens song!! C'mon Snr, teach your boy a lesson!! That's already enough to sell tickets. But then we get to Intermediate. 🍩 Arno & Rudolph vs Stefan & Grant. This is the one. Arno & Rudolph are sitting on six donuts in four weeks. Stefan & Grant are coming off a ridiculous performance where they lost only one game across three sets. Something has to give. Can Stefan & Grant stop the bakery? Or will Arno & Rudolph simply add another couple of donuts to the collection? And then there's Beginner. Juandre & Michael vs Ian & Christopher. This could be the category that decides everything. We're giving U-Pro the edge. 10–6 U-Pro Invitational. But this could easily be the closest 10–6 we've predicted all season. ________________________________________ 🚨 TAYFIN vs LIV PADEL Prediction: Tayfin 9–7 We're calling it. This is where Tayfin starts the comeback. After that massive upset last week against Kimiad, confidence should be sky high. Ali & Yusha are suddenly the pairing everyone is talking about after beating Shaun Nel & Sean Collins. Now they face Vian & Brentdon. That's another serious test. And don't forget Tayfin's other pairings. Cobus & Muazzam will have their hands full against Marcus & Raymond in Open, while the Ladies matchup could be another crucial battleground. We think Tayfin are starting to find their rhythm. 9–7 Tayfin. Maybe the old Ford isn't the only vehicle finding second gear. 🚜😂 ________________________________________ 😂 BANTER BANDITS vs PADEL PARQ KIMIAD A Prediction: Banter Bandits 10–6 Can there REALLY be another draw? We feel like we've asked this question approximately seventeen times this season. 😂 But honestly, this one has another draw written all over it. We think both teams take two categories. So once again... Who steals the extra set? Banter have serious firepower in Open with Luca & Eddie, who are now officially on the radar after beating Egmondt Snr & Wynand last week. But Kimiad bring the Herbst brothers. Stuart & Mark finally got a win last week, and we're expecting them to have a bit more confidence this time around. The Intermediate matchup is another fascinating one: Gordon & Ryan vs Shaun Nel & Sean Collins. After Shaun & Sean's shock defeat last week, they'll be looking to bounce straight back. But we're giving Banter the edge. 10–6 Banter Bandits. And if this turns into another 8–8... We're officially blaming the league format. 😂 ________________________________________ ⛽ WEEK 5: FILL THE TANK This week has everything. Thrashers vs MK. U-Pro vs Proactive. Freda & Liezel's Donut Factory. Arno & Rudolph vs Stefan & Grant. Ali & Yusha trying to prove last week wasn't a fluke. Luca & Eddie trying to prove they're here to stay. And somewhere between all of that, there will be a lot of teams travelling, competing, fighting for individual sets and trying to squeeze every last point out of the night. So... Fill the Texan tank. ⛽ Because Week 5 looks like it's going to need every drop. 🔥🎾
